Humans without Borders Eid-al Fitr Celebration
27 August, 2012
On 22 August 2012, Humans without Borders hosted the Palestinian families who are assisted by the organization for an Eid-al Fitr celebration. The event was held at the Murad Tourist Resort in Beit Sahour, a small town adjacent to Bethlehem. Forty-five children, with their parents, enjoyed a fun day at the swimming pools, followed by a huge lunch catered by the resort.
Two popular Palestinian clowns topped off the event with about two hours of levity and entertainment. The clowns nosily romped with the children and ended up by painting their faces and twisting balloons to create “designer” headgear.
And, of course, a good dose of ice cream certainly improved everyone’s spirits.
Keeping up a tradition started several years ago by Gamila, the Founder and President of Humans without Borders, each child received a back-to-school, schoolbag.
Such outings – sponsored and organized by Humans without Borders – let the kids and their parents celebrate the holiday and forget, for a while, the difficulties that darken their daily lives. Larry Lester from Humans without Borders noted, “Small moments like this, together with the day-to-day assistance we provide, make us feel very proud that we can help out to ease the complications of these families.”
This event was made possible through a contribution from Prelude.
