This year’s event for Palestinian children with cancer, planned to be held during the summer, was postponed due to the war in Gaza. Please read more about the event in this report from Humans without Borders:

We are pleased to report that the “Humans without Borders” annual event was held in Bet Jala on Friday 13 February. You may recall that the party was originally planned to take place last summer but had to be postponed because of the dreadful events leading up to the war in August. Rather than wait until next summer, we decided that we should have the party now, especially since because the children very much wanted it.

More than 140 Palestinians and volunteers, including some 50 children, the majority of them undergoing medical treatment in Israeli hospitals, and their brothers and sisters, met at the Everest hotel in Beth Jala.

Volunteer pupils from the “Hand-in-Hand” Center for Jewish-Arab Education in Jerusalem organized a variety of handicraft activities which immediately broke down barriers and overcame shyness among the kids. The results were just wonderful.

A delicious lunch provided by Areij, the manager of the Everest hotel added to the warm atmosphere and volunteers and Palestinian families indulged together in delicious local dishes.

Azzat – the famous clown – who also appeared last year, together with Zatar romped with the children, and had everyone totally delighted by his wonderful way with children.

Rajsan sang for more than an hour while the kids (and several of the women) danced to the music.

As you can see in the attached photographs, it was an amazingly successful get together. There was a very relaxed and easy accord between the Palestinian families and the Israeli volunteers and – most important – the kids had a great time.

Our thanks, again, to the “Prelude Foundation” for their continuing support for “Humans without Borders”.
