Prelude - Creating Playgrounds in the Middle East
Prelude

The Prelude Foundation brings children and youth from Israel and Palestine together by promoting joint projects and initiatives in the fields of music, arts, culture and sports. Our emphasis is on tolerance, mutuality, intercultural awareness and nonviolence. We aim to reach every child whose life has been adversely affected by the ongoing conflict, regardless of nationality, religion, gender or economic status.

The Prelude Foundation believes that the youth of today will shape the world of tomorrow. In a region where violence and poverty constitute reality for hundreds of thousands of children, there is an immediate need for long-term intercultural and educational projects.

Working together with local nongovernmental organizations and community leaders in Palestine and Israel, Prelude aims to:

  • Bring Palestinian and Israeli children together by means of music, art and sports.
  • Promote constructive dialogue between youth of different nationalities and religions, with emphasis on listening, tolerance, mutual trust, intercultural awareness, and nonviolence.
  • Initiate projects of community empowerment through cultural centers where children and teenagers can participate in extracurricular activities.
  • Provide local communities with tools to deal with children traumatized by violence, poverty, oppression and the loss of family and homes.
  • Encourage local communities, groups and individuals from Israel and Palestine to take initiatives of joint action, cultural exchange and collective activities for the benefit of the young generation.
